Hi Ari – Employment sure isn’t what it used to be where you’d work for the same company for a long time and they would reciprocate your loyalty, is it? Having a choice is ultimately more satisfying.

It’s so cool that you and Pete are so resourceful. Don’t mean to overgeneralize, but I know people who are totally set in their ways, letting their jobs/economy/whatever just toss them around like a leaf floating in a stormy sea.

Personally, I see employment as a dead-end gig, even though I’ve been able to increase my salary like 75% in 2 years. I’m hoping to jump ship soon.

I agree, when faced with tough times we do learn how to become resourceful. We’re in a situation where the economy has forced us to downsize. What we found worked good was craigslist for some of the odds and ends we’ve collected over the years. As they say, one man’s junk is another man’s treasure, and I’m always surprised when I run an ad and get numerous responses from buyers saying “that’s just what I was looking for”. It feels like a win-win.

Blogs can certainly be one way of generating an income, but like you said, we certainly don’t want to cheapen our words with ads that clutter up our pages. In that case, it’s often better to start a new site for that purpose.

Like you and Pete, I am also looking into writing ebooks. With the amount of knowledge my years have given me, I would have a lot to share.

I’ll be traveling along with you as you journey toward what had been called the golden years, however, I have a feeling the gold has lost it’s luster.
