Hi Davina - Yes, you could moor a very small boat in there and sit to your heart's content. I think you'd be sharing it with gulls and puffins, though. Getting there through the open water would be quite the trip in a small craft, too.

Hi Cath - We've been watching Seward and Anchorage weather since we returned and in some cases it has been warmer than Minnesota! This was in August and the water was bone-chilling. The captain said you would have literally only minutes if you fell overboard. We were constantly reminded that we were guests of the wilderness. Happy Boxing Day!

Hi Betsy - That is beautiful. I love seeing these Alaska pictures. It looks absolutely amazing. I bet it is cold there right now though.

Hi Betsy and Pete. Another winning combination. I'm drawn to sit in that cozy passage under the rock. Can a small boat pass through there or is it too rocky and narrow?

Davina´s last blog post..A Positively Dysfunctional Christmas

Hi Dot - I like to play the video for the music and then look at the photograph. I always see something new. The captain told us he often saw bears, moose and deer clambering around those vertical cliffs. Amazing. Merry Christmas!

Hi Steph - I knew you'd like this one. "We all like sheep" is hilarious! Kind of like "Round John Virgin." Merry Christmas!

Ah, my favourite - Handel's Messiah. It holds much meaning for me! I grew up listening to it every single Sunday after mass.

Some funny memories, too. In rehearsal once, when I was in a concert choir, we sang "All we like sheep" as "We all like sheep" (having conspired together to do it and surprise the conductor). It was hilarious!!

Thank you for posting this.

And Merry Christmas, Betsy! :)

My mind was playing this quotation as set to music in Handel's Messiah, which I love to play this time of year.

Hi Lance - Thank you. I still remember that day in vivid detail, the bobbing on the water, and going around that bend. The fishing and ocean metaphors are so prevalent, too, in the biblical messages. We're glad you enjoyed this.

This is a great combination - the picture and the video. Especially, the picture, is a powerful image of how you've led into this post..."and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed...". Wonderful on this day before Christmas, as we await what is revealed to us on Christmas morning...the true gift of the season...
