AS I WANDER OUT UNDER THE SKY…

This is the next in our series of Christmas cards matching Pete’s photography with favorite carols.  “I Wonder As I Wander” has its origins in Appalachia, but this photograph under the skies east of Denali speaks of wandering God’s great wilderness to us.  Merry Christmas!

I wonder as I wander out under the sky,
How Jesus the Savior did come for to die.
For poor on’ry people like you and like I…
I wonder as I wander out under the sky.

When Mary birthed Jesus ’twas in a cow’s stall,
With wise men and farmers and shepherds and all.
But high from God’s heaven a star’s light did fall,
And the promise of ages it then did recall.

If Jesus had wanted for any wee thing,
A star in the sky, or a bird on the wing,
Or all of God’s angels in heav’n for to sing,
He surely could have it, ’cause he was the King.

What is it about Mountains that is peaceful? Eventually I am going to put up some pics on my blog of my apartment here in Costa Rica so everyone can see the great view I have all day.

In the morning, sunny and beautiful
In the afternoon, the same (great view on mountains)
In the evening, the lights from the city and on the mountains.

    Just great picture, thanks..

Hi you two. Ahhh, mountains… sigh. Gorgeous. With so many verses and carols out there is must be a challenge to pair them up with your photographs. This was perfect.

Hi Kathy – It is hard to tell from the photo, but that valley is enormous. I found myself trying to figure out how long it would take to walk it. It does fit this song, doesn’t it? Thanks.

Hi Jim – We would love to see your photos! And we’re particularly envious of you right now, when it’s below zero in Minneapolis. Thanks.

Hi Amy – Thanks for coming by!

Hi Davina – Thank you. It’s amazing how some photos match themselves up. It’s been fun and makes us wants to do more…of something, we don’t yet know what.

Love those mountains. I moved from Salt Lake City to California, and if there’s one thing I miss, it’s the mountains.
