IT’S BEGINNING TO LOOK A LOT LIKE . . .

by Betsy Wuebker on December 8, 2008

It seems as though everywhere, there are folks who are unswayed by the economic downturn.  Many of our friends, online and off, view current conditions as fraught with opportunities.  We certainly do, and we’re having a great time diversifying and adding to our income.

A couple of months ago, we detailed some of our activities in our Proceeds post.  Since then, Pete has been hard at work adding merchandise categories to his online stores at Zazzle and CafePress.  I don’t think our sidebar widget adequately showcases the many fun things he’s created.

So we thought we’d give you a peek at our biggest merchandise categories:  Holiday Stamps, Cards and Tote Bags.  A while ago, Pete happened upon some fantastic vintage images, and he has been busy creating hundreds of designs.  Each image is more appealing than the last, and we’re happy that they can see the light of day again after being archived for so long.

Lest you think this is a shameless plug, consider this:  We think you’ll like the sense of nostalgia these Christmas and everyday themes evoke.  If you’re tempted to purchase anything, that would certainly be great.  But we hope the products might spark a memory if you’re of a certain age like we are, or make an impression of what Christmas looked like in days gone by to younger folks.  Enjoy!

Hi Betsy – I checked out your stamps, cards and tote bags. Your collection is beautiful. And you’re right, the nostalgic prints do bring back wonderful memories.

It’s always a sunny day for someone. There were fortunes made in the Depression even though they were far from the norm. There is always opportunity. Sometimes it’s just harder to find. Good on you two for finding it.

Hi Sean – Thanks. It’s all in your outlook, isn’t it? Funny, but I’m not as affected by the waning sunlight this year as I have been in the past. I point to the Attitude of Gratitude I am deliberately trying to access every day. Opportunity is always everywhere. Thanks.

I think it’s wonderful that you’re viewing the current situation as an opportunity. Also wanted to say, even if this was a shameless plug, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with shameless plugs. :)

Hi Vered – LOL, I wasn’t sure about shameless plugs etiquette. I think it’s okay if they’re identified as such, right? Thanks! :)
