The National Eagle Center in Wabasha, Minnesota, is a fun destination to observe and learn about bald eagles. Set on the waterfront of the Mississipi River southeast of the Twin Cities, the Center’s soaring windows and observation deck offer a thrilling afternoon’s eyeful of our national symbol. These magnificent birds seem to love the acrobatic effects of the updrafts created by the tall riverbluffs as much as we do.
Recently, one of our local news crews was on the river, and their footage caught an entertaining interchange. An adult, whose mindset appeared to be that of scarcity rather than abundance, was beset by several hooligans, who bested him of his wealth for the day. A finer metaphor to associate with the prevailing attitudes in our economic climate would be hard to find. Those of you in a reader may have to click into the post to view. Enjoy!

Hi Barbara – I found the footage calming – you’re right, it’s a great way to start the day. Thank you!
Hi Mike – I never tire of watching them. When we are at the cabin there are several nests that are fairly close, so we frequently see them. It’s always a thrill. Thanks.
Hi Robin – They are awesome, aren’t they? We’ve seen them soaring and doing acrobatics in the bluff updrafts – it is amazing. Thanks.
Hi Betsy – Eagles sure are beautiful to watch. Thank you for sharing the video as it is a great reminder how magnificent eagles truly are.

I found that really peaceful. As I was watching I became aware of a ton of birds chirping outside my windows. It is warmer here today than it has been in a while and they are out in force. So lovely. A nice reminder along with the video that spring is on its way! (I couldn’t be more ready for it.

Hi Betsy,
What a sight! Eagles are such wonderful creatures, and seeing so many of them in one location – how cool. I too enjoyed the eagles soaring in the end. Thanks for sharing this video Betsy, and what a great place to visit.

Hi Betsy – What a beautiful video – looks like you live in an awesome place.
But my sounds system on this laptop sucks and I couldn’t hear what those guys were saying at all. What was going on there?
Hi Barbara – I agree, I never get tired of them. It’s thrilling, isn’t it? Thank you.
Hi Christine – It’s possible to lose track of everything just watching. And spring really is around the corner! Thank you for coming by!
Hi Lance – It might be a fun for you to check out National Eagle Center – the kids would love being able to get really close to the handlers and the indoor eagles. Thanks.
Hi Cath – I couldn’t really make out what they were saying either. I think they just happened upon the group, pulled over and started running the camera. Slow news day!
Thanks.
