Hi Patricia - I hope you will take lots of photos with your new camera. It sounds like a fabulous trip! I was teased by California friends about how I would pick up the Minnesota accent once I moved here. And they were right, I'm afraid. Now I exaggerate it just for fun! :) Thanks.

Fun journey and I think it helped me decide to spontaneously hop up to Glacier Bay National Park in a week. Got offered an irresistible deal and thought after reading this, why not?

My mum and father were from Canada, my paternal Grandfather from Scotland - all the kids in my neighborhood used to want to come over and listen to my parents talk - then my dad signed the news every night to stay in practice....the local kids did not like the strict rules in our household, but listening to my parents talk was a big deal.
When I went to college, my French teacher thought I was from Minnesota with my funny accents!
What a fun post...thank you for sharing.

Hi Jannie - Oooh ya, it's a great dialect, don'tcha know. :D Some say the Minnesoooooohta accent is similar. I'd say it's on the same family tree as the Canuck and Yooper, eh. Seeing as how I work for Canadians, I know a bit about getting a mite tied up, too, with that beer and whiskey. You betcha. As Pete says, a fella can work up a thirst. Thank you!

Hi Barbara - I knew you'd relate to this, too, being a Yooper from way back. We've got the same thing in Northern MN with the Finlanders, ja. It's easy to slip into the cadence, right. Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks!
