I’ve never heard flowers compared to soldiers before — interesting. For me, it’s sad when fall sets in and the colors become muted, but most people in my area get happy, because the weather becomes bearable. I spent a year in lower Michigan, so I have a clue about your weather there. Better hurry and camp before it snows!

Yeah we don’t go to the casinos much being that we live here. Usually when we do, it’s because we’re going to see a movie (that’s where the movie theaters are located).

Hi John – Living in Vegas seems like it would be a constant staycation to those of us who don’t live there but I know it’s not the case, is it? We don’t have to go far to pitch the tent in the woods in Minnesota, which we tend to take for granted. We haven’t been camping yet this summer and we’re hoping to fit a trip to the North Shore in before fall sets in. Thanks.

Hi Kathy – I think we all tend to dismiss cool stuff in our backyards, don’t you? It was a really nice experience, yet there were hardly any people in the restaurant. I guess everyone winds up going to the lake when summer comes. Thanks for the mention on Virtual Impax today!

Well you have to give them credit for trying LOL.

I’m going on a staycation, it’s in a tent out in the woods somewhere hehe. Would be nice if there was room service, though.

Actually, here in Vegas there are great deals all the time for locals. One hotel (out at state line) offered 2 free nights hotel stay, free buffet tickets, and free all day roller coaster rides. We ended up not taking them up on the offer, but I thought that was really cool of them.

Hi Betsy. Your birthday dinner looks and sounds delicious. A meal fit for a queen right? I thought you two were actually going to book a room and stay at the late minute — that would have been a nice birthday surprise! After all that wine, I don’t think I could have resisted.

My budget may not allow for me to take a holiday this year but I’m content with that. The weather in Vancouver has been incredible this summer. If I do take some time off it will be to go camping. A staycation is a great idea too. Not something I’ve ever done.
