Hi Kathy – LOL! Yep, Uncle Bob darts through the pathways and then points with his walking stick where we should go that he doesn’t want to! Pete and I do believe that having stuff to do is what keeps you young!

As far as it “just happening,” I can understand how Hal would say that – it’s not just the Norwegian in him. Some of the finest things I’ve written have come as if by magic in the state of “flow.” I honestly think Hal accesses that state far more frequently than we mortals. He has his painting studio on the grounds, and we were awed at his works. I’m glad you enjoyed this. Thank you!

Any garden that has survived and thrived for 30 years is masterpiece of planning AND execution. Yet Hal makes it sound like it “just happened”.

Thanks for sharing “the rest of the story” with us. Because often, when I see such a masterpiece – I often forget how much back breaking labor goes on to create such “effortless” splendor!!

Oh, how I hope I’m celebrating my 80th birthday by offering a tour which advises “Due to the challenging terrain, we recommend sturdy walking shoes.”

Lovely post Betsy and I am so thankful that you continued the story. I will come back and read some of your links tomorrow. And the pictures are so lovely.
We have lovely garden here in town that a man developed around rhododendrons and huge fir trees…extremely simple path of about 1 mile in duration – part of his spiritual journey which he left to all of us. These gifts from the artists and teachers are such treasures – I hope there will be a way to preserve the gardens for future generations – we are all rallying to preserve our little jewel since the builder’s passing. Thank you for this treat

Hi Barbara – Yes, it is simply magnificent. I believe Hal accesses sheer “flow” not only in the two-dimensional medium of paint and pencil, but in the three dimensions. Walking through Linmar is a serene and beautiful encounter with the senses. Thank you.

Oh Betsy, what a beautiful place. I’m in awe as I look at these photos and all of the work that went into creating the gorgeous gardens.

It’s amazing how something that “started out the back door…” became so majestic. Ahhhh…the power of a vision.
