I just had to google on this as I’ve been finding random dimes and have been thinking they are signs from my dad, who passed away in 2010. I have always been careless with change so it would be easy enough to dismiss, but the finding of dimes only is just too frequent and especially tonight. I just moved into a new place and there would be no reason for a dime to be right next to the kitchen sink on the floor, but sure enough there was a dime. I just had to go over and check to see if there was more change somewhere in the area but just that dime. So it truly came out of nowhere this time and I know it. I’m going through a really tough time right now and maybe it’s just my dad’s way of saying he’s watching over me or that everything is going to be ok. I don’t know. All I know is that this has been going on long enough that I just had to google on it. Plus, he was a born and bred Minnesotan so it’s kind of ironic that the author of the blog would be from Minneapolis, as that is where my dad lived and died.

This is so interesting… I came here from a Google search because I’ve been finding dimes lately, and I liked the thing about “Once is an accident, twice is a coincidence, and three is proof.” because this was the third one I’ve found. And a few months back, my mom and I found 12 pennies (7 to her, 5 to me) and my friend found three pennies and a dime. Thank you for posting this, I now feel less insane. xD

Hi Betsy,

Great findings. I know for myself, when I had “money to burn”, it wasn’t uncommon for me to spend foolishly. In fact, if I left a store and wasn’t carrying a bag, I felt something was wrong. Age and maturity have taught me the difference between wants and needs and in some ways I think the recession has done the same for many. If we don’t have disposable income (ironic they should call it that), we’re forced to look twice at our spending habits.

What I find sad is how some people define themselves by what they have versus what others have. And as we all know, we can always find someone with more (stuff). A vicious cycle, indeed.

One thing I didn’t know was that we’re hard wired to think this way, but now that I do, I see evidence of how retailers and advertisers are using that knowledge to continue to entice us.

I bet you had a great time visiting all those places. I wish i could do the same but i cannot just sacrifice my work to make a world tour. I also lack the funds to do so even if i have the time. Do you have some photos you can share with us? I would love to see some.

Hi Hilary – I use the CommentLuv WordPress plugin. If you hover over the little speech/heart icon, it will bring up your website and profile which posts you have commented on. It automatically creates a footer that pulls up your last blog post from the URL that you enter on our comments form. If other WP bloggers are using this plugin, but haven’t updated it or have different settings, it may not be working correctly on their sites. I don’t know if it is available for other platforms. Hope this helps.

Hi Betsy .. I think it was my reading .. and scanning as such – so my fault. We too wind up doing lots of things .. but I think I thought (how I have no idea!) you were travelling with a windup table?!

If you could tell me one thing – please .. why do my blog post titles appear on your WP blog and on others not? Any bright idea? Thank you ..
