(Last Updated On: )

Although you wish you had an entire week, it turns out you only have a weekend to spend in the Big Apple. Don’t worry, you can still have a fantastic time on a weekend in New York City. Here are a few suggestions to ensure you make the most of your quick trip.

Choosing a Hotel for a Weekend in New York City

Westgate New York City

Lodging is critical to the success of your trip. You’ll want to discover the hotel that’s centrally located and located next to public transportation. The Westgate New York Grand Central is a very popular option for good reason. Its east Manhattan location is within walking distance to many attractions, but more importantly, it’s right next to the one and only Grand Central Station which can get you to almost anywhere you’ll want to go during your stay in the city. It’s also an attraction itself and has been featured in hundreds of films and television shows.

Sight Seeing During Your Weekend in NYC

There are several different site seeing tours, but they can be expensive and you’ll be stuck with the same group for several hours. Save yourself some time and money with New York’s easy and affordable public transportation system. Take the subway to Times Square and hopefully catch a flash mob performance. Central Park is less than a mile away and if you walk you can check out Carnegie Hall on the way. Also, the Staten Island Ferry is free and will give you a gorgeous view of the city and an impeccable photo opportunity of the Statue of Liberty.

Restaurants – From Fine Dining to Pizza

Do yourself a favor and splurge for at least one meal at one of New York’s most well-known restaurants. Make a reservation at Buvette if you’re in the mood for French cuisine or enjoy some delicious paella at Mercado Little Spain. Wherever you choose to go just make sure to get a reservation because eating is a very popular activity in the city that never sleeps. Also, hopefully, it goes without saying that you may not leave town until you have some authentic New York-style pizza.

Museums Not to Miss During Your NYC Weekend

Given the brevity of your stay you may only get to visit a single museum, so make sure it’s a good one. Thankfully you can’t go wrong with the Metropolitan Museum, the Guggenheim, American Museum of Natural History, Museum of Modern Art, or the Morgan Library and Museum.

Theater – Catch a Show

Even if you don’t consider yourself a thespian, you probably still want to catch a Broadway show. If you’re not picky you can try for a last-minute ticket and save yourself a bundle.

New York is a fast-paced city, so expect a fast-paced itinerary. It will be worth it, though. You can always sleep when you get back home.

Find an inexpensive flight by using Kayak, a favorite of ours because it regularly returns less expensive flight options from a variety of airlines.

Book Your Hotel or Special Accommodation
We are big fans of Booking.com. We like their review system and photos. If we want to see more reviews and additional booking options, we go to Expedia.

You Need Travel Insurance!
Good travel insurance means having total peace of mind. Travel insurance protects you when your medical insurance often will not and better than what you get from your credit card. It will provide comprehensive coverage should you need medical treatment or return to the United States, compensation for trip interruption, baggage loss, and other situations.
