Hotel Review: Hampton Inn Minneapolis-Roseville

By Betsy Wuebker 1 Comment

(Last Updated On: April 24, 2018)

We discovered a wealth of thoughtfully designed details to please almost every type of traveler at the new Hampton Inn Minneapolis-Roseville.

Disclosure: We partnered with Visit Roseville and TPI Hospitality during our visits to Roseville, Minnesota and couldn’t have been more delighted by the experience.

Hampton Inn Minneapolis-Roseville

Our Experience: It’s not every day you can move into a brand new hotel and be among the first to experience every thoughtful detail it has to offer. We found a variety of amenities and conveniences at the Hampton Inn Minneapolis-Roseville, which proved the brand’s commitment to business travelers isn’t just lip service. And what’s good for business travelers is good for regular travelers, too.

Hampton Inn Minneapolis-Roseville bills itself as within 5 minutes of either of the Twin Cities’ downtown areas. While traffic may extend that time frame, it’s true that their equidistant location is an advantage. During our stay we met fellow guests who were moving a student into the University of Minnesota, several business road warriors, coaches who were accompanying their track teams to weekend meets, and other travelers who were “passing through” just as we were. Business districts are a quick drive or hop on public transit at the station right behind the hotel while your vehicle parks for free.

Belly up and get some work done!

As a frequent traveler, you come to expect free wifi at major hotel brands. Hampton Inn Minneapolis-Roseville kicks this up a notch, with fast internet and strong signal throughout public spaces and in your room alike. The speed in our room was sufficient to stream Netflix, but if you need even faster, an upgrade is available for less than half of what we’ve seen charged by competitors.

Comfortable multi-purpose public space

Free hot breakfast is another common amenity, but here the Hampton Inn Minneapolis-Roseville really shines. This is due in no small part to the personable staff, who wander the breakfast room with a smile, refilling coffee, fetching implements or another doughnut, and engaging in pleasant conversation.

The lounge and breakfast room area offers a variety of spaces to enjoy a meal, read a newspaper, or set up for some more serious keyboarding. An all-day coffee station keeps you sufficiently caffeinated here.

Remedy for the “out of coffee experience”

Longer-term travelers will appreciate not only the workout space, accessible whirlpool and swimming pools, but also the laundry room and meeting spaces, the 24-hour convenience shop, and a business center which features both Windows and Mac setups.

Our king room was comfortably sized with a full wall devoted to workspace, entertainment, refrigerator, microwave and coffee station. The Hampton Bed delivered restful sleep, with ample pull-outs on the wall-mounted nightstands for reading materials, morning coffee and electronic devices.

Favorite Details: As digital nomads, we swooned over the connectivity options in our room. For once, we had more places to connect than we have devices! We could power up our iPhones, iPads, and laptops on either side of the bed, at the desk, and on the entertainment console. This was amazing!

The bathroom deserves a special mention. Pull-out shelves below the vanity meant a place for everything and everything in its place instead of cluttering up the counter. Neutrogena toiletries were top quality. Having the shower control on the opposite side of the oversize shower stall meant you could start the water without fear of getting blasted. The sliding barn door served both closet and bathroom – a fun design detail.

The vibe at Hampton Inn Minneapolis-Roseville is comfortable, refreshing and contemporary with a sense of humor. Nowhere is this more evident than in the smiles of the personable staff. It was clear everyone who worked here loved being at this beautiful new property and enjoyed their job.

Hotel Particulars: Hampton Inn Minneapolis-Roseville, 2050 Iona Lane West, Roseville, Minnesota, 55113. Tel: 651-209-3000

Pricing: King rooms like the one in which we stayed were offered at $103 per night on a low-demand weekend at the beginning of July. You’ll pay more during the business week. Even though the hotel was scarcely a week old, there was a full parking lot and a quick availability check revealed several sold out nights.

Hampton Inn Minneapolis-Roseville

Our Rating: ***** 5 out of 5 stars. While the Hampton Inn Minneapolis-Roseville is not a five-star luxury hotel, it delivers a similarly carefree experience. Every detail we observed was flawless. Everything a guest could possibly want has been conceived and executed with friendly, unobtrusive professionalism.

Disclosure: Our 4-night stay was compliments of Hampton Inn Minneapolis-Roseville in conjunction with Visit Roseville.

Tips for Trip Success

Book Your Flight
Find an inexpensive flight by using CheapOAir, a favorite of ours because it regularly returns less expensive flight options from a variety of airlines.

Book Your Hotel or Special Accommodation
We are big fans of Booking.com. We like their review system and photos. If we want to see more reviews and additional booking options, we go to TripAdvisor.

You Need Travel Insurance!
Good travel insurance means having total peace of mind. Travel insurance protects you when your medical insurance often will not and better than what you get from your credit card. It will provide comprehensive coverage should you need medical treatment or return to the United States, compensation for trip interruption, baggage loss, and other situations.
