Today We Celebrate Barbara Swafford

(Last Updated On: January 27, 2020)

Barbara SwaffordToday it’s all about Barbara Swafford, of Blogging Without A Blog.  Barbara’s passion is offering support to other bloggers as we navigate process and philosophy.  Her energy and enthusiasm is legendary, and we’ve often been its beneficiary.

When Patricia suggested joining together in tribute Barbara, we knew we’d have to come up with something just a little different.

So, without further ado, a ditty in Barbara’s honor that you can sing to the melody of Teddy Bears Picnic:

If you go visiting blogs today
You’re sure of a big surprise.
If you go visiting blogs today
You’d better not criticize.
For every blog that ever there was
Is gathering ’round this idea because
Today’s the day we celebrate Barbara Swafford.
Celebrating Barb we are!
We little blogging bears are having a lovely time today.
Watch her, see just how she cares
And know that Barbara inspires every day.
See us strongly shout her out
We know what she’s about
And how she always shares.
At close of day our cheerful and happy
Posts will see her off
To more of her tireless blogging work.
If you are trying to blog today,
It’s scary to be alone.
You might post a bit but then you’d think
It’s safer to stay at home.
For every blog that ever there was
started small like this and only because
Of Barbara’s help new bloggers go on to glory.
Celebrating Barb we are!
We little blogging bears are having a lovely time today.
Watch her, see just how she cares
And know that Barbara inspires every day.
See us strongly shout her out!
We know what she’s about
And how she always shares.
At close of day our cheerful and happy
Posts will see her off
To more of her tireless blogging work.
Every blogger who’s been around
Is sure of a treat today
There’s lots of wonderful praise to see
And wonderful things to say!
In places like these, where everyone sees
We’ll praise her just as long as we please
Today’s the day We’re honoring Barbara Swafford!
Celebrating Barb we are!
We little blogging bears are having a lovely time today.
Time to give our Barb a hand,
For she’s just simply grand
At cheering us all upon our way!
When day is done our tributes and grateful
Thanks will let her know
How much we love our blogging friend!

We do love and appreciate you, Barbara.  Thank you for all you do.  We’re honored by your support, and most of all, your friendship.

Tips for Trip Success

Book Your Flight
Find an inexpensive flight by using CheapOAir, a favorite of ours because it regularly returns less expensive flight options from a variety of airlines.

Book Your Hotel or Special Accommodation
We are big fans of Booking.com. We like their review system and photos. If we want to see more reviews and additional booking options, we go to TripAdvisor.

You Need Travel Insurance!
Good travel insurance means having total peace of mind. Travel insurance protects you when your medical insurance often will not and better than what you get from your credit card. It will provide comprehensive coverage should you need medical treatment or return to the United States, compensation for trip interruption, baggage loss, and other situations.

This is so so so fun! And sweet. And of course, I’m singing it now.

Barbara Swafford — where would we be without her? I’d never have met you and so many others.

Tears in my eyes at the beautiful friendships she helped create.

    AWESOME, Betsy — awesome!!

    xoxo

    Betsy… I can’t stop smiling!

This is… there’s no word really… brilliant, fantastic… they just don’t cut it for THIS post. OMG — I love this. You did an outstanding job. I almost forgot you were toasting Barbara! 🙂 I got so caught up in the poem and the melody. You should have seen me bobbing my head from side to side as I sang it… Somehow, Barbara managed to not make it about her… again. LOL. Wonderful. Absolutely wonderful!

Barbara would make scones for her Teddy Bears Picnic; you can count on that; the kind and gracious hostess that she is. Hi Barbara *waves*.

    Betsy,

I loved this song!!! Aren’t you clever. This is so much fun. I’m enjoying everyone Barbara posts and how they decided to approach the tribute.

I think Barbara, if she ever has time to read these post, will enjoy yours very much:~)

I am singing out loudly and laughing – How clever you are Betsy – and what a wonderful picnic this whole tribute is – maybe it is because thinking about Barbara just brings out the best in all of us

Betsy, I liked your ditty and it’s originality. What a great tribute. But I’m afraid I don’t know the Teddy bear song so I sang it to House of The Rising Sun and it worked!

Hi Tom and Betsy .. not sure what I think of this!! that iconic song “House of the Rising Sun” instead of the Teddy Bears Picnic .. must be some connection .. but I really don’t want to think it .. now forever on HoftheRS .. will be linked with Teddy Bears … and that is definitely not right!!

Betsy the idea is so good though .. love the poem and tribute ..

Tom – not sure if you’re less musical than I am … or just a ‘darn’d whole lot more cleverer’ .. I suspect the latter ..

Have wonderful weekends .. cheers Hilary

Hi Betsy … well from her latest blog – totally tied up with family and friends .. and the blog – let alone us lot – … so it’s going to be one “glorious” shock for her ..

I actually feel slightly sorry for her!?!? Fantastic idea – unfortunate timing .. by the sound of it .. but c’est la vie .. we shall all recover .. and perhaps she’ll do one post to cover the comments … in the meantime we have to wait until she surfaces ..

      Enjoy the weekend .. Hilary

    Oh my gosh Betsy,

I’ve spent the greater part of this evening re-reading all of these tributes, wiping tears as they streamed down my cheeks, really not believing all that transpired in the time I was unplugged from blogosphere, and feeling gratitude for all of the friends I’ve made online. It’s simply amazing and I ask myself, “what did I do to deserve so much love?”

I feel so honored not only by what you wrote, but by the comments as well. Your song about blogging bears makes me wish we could have a group hug. 🙂

Love, ((hugs)) and gratitude back at you all.

I bow my head and say “Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!”

    xo
