Kauai, Hawaii Travel Guide

Kauai is called the Garden Isle because it is so incredibly green, especially on the North Shore of Kauai. In our jungle home, we’d get rain every day but just for about ten minutes. Then sunshine and rainbows for the rest of the day.

Kauai is a roundish volcanic island about 100 miles northwest of Oahu. It is the oldest of the main islands in the Hawaiian archipelago, formed about six million years ago. Its interior is comprised of mountainous peaks, two of which are over 5,000 feet high.

Waimea Canyon The Grand Canyon of the Pacific is the most storied of Kauai attractions, a spectacular geological element in Kauai’s interior, with colorful striations marking its deep gorges.
