Why to visit Lumkomir

In the mountains above Sarajevo lies Lukomir, Bosnia’s most remote village. Its semi-nomadic herders keep the old ways in the shadow of medieval tombstones.

The Historical Architecture Society of the United Kingdom has proclaimed Lukomir to be one of the longest continually inhabited villages in Europe

The homes in the area are made of stone while their roofs are composed of wooden tiles. The Rakitnica canyon is located nearby and is said by local folklore to be the origin of a dragon

The population of this village is only 13.

When visiting Bosnia, make sure and take an afternoon to Lukomir. The people and beauty is worth the trip.
