The Mountains of the Moon, otherwise known as the Rwenzoris, offers visitors rigorous and long hikes that can make them feel like they are on an adventure. Unlike the experience you have when you visit Mountain Kilimanjaro, Africa’s tallest mountain, visiting the Rwenzoris is less expensive and a lot less crowded.

The Mountains of the Moon serve as the border to both Uganda and Congo, and the highest peak among them is Mount Stanley, which measures 5,109 meters high. Visitors from all over the world usually tend to describe the view at the Rwenzoris as surreal due to its beautiful equatorial glaciers and incredible mist.

This experience and surprise typically stem from the fact that most people do not think of Africa’s myriad of landscapes and hope to find ice. The Rwenzoris are also filled with beautiful flora and fauna. On average, it may take you about seven days to complete your hike at the Rwenzoris, and keep in mind that there are diverse hiking routes and various organizations to assist you in planning your trek.

Visit the Antelope Canyon

The Antelope Canyon lies to the east of Page, Arizona. You can find it amid the LeChee Chapter of the Navajo Nation, which is the biggest Native American tribe in the U.S. The antelope canyon is divided into two beautiful sections: the Lower Antelope Canyon and the Upper Antelope Canyon.

The two divisions of the Antelope Canyon came about due to water erosions of flash floods that occurred throughout millions of years in the Arizona monsoon season. The erosions and floods resulted in a wave-like structure of the rocks being created, and this beautiful scene enhances when beams of sunlight run through the canyon openings. It left behind a gorgeous red-like hue display of the sandstone.

When you go on an Antelope Canyon hike, you are bound to have a fun experience because of the always available and knowledgeable staff. They assist you to go through all the beauty and even show you how to take pictures that do justice to the view.

Consider traveling to Monteverde’s Cloud Forest, and you are sure to experience a deep level of relaxation while you walk through it. As a tourist, you will get the opportunity to walk through the forest using a suspension bridge or zip line and also experience so much wildlife. These include insects, numerous species of exotic birds, among others.

You also get the option of following the trail, which leads to Colombia’s Perdida, also known as the “Lost City,” which is a stunning ancient settlement of ruins. And it bears the name because it remained unknown to the western world till it was discovered in the 1970s. There are tour guides available to assist you throughout your visit.

Tips for Trip Success

Book Your Flight
Find an inexpensive flight by using CheapOAir, a favorite of ours because it regularly returns less expensive flight options from a variety of airlines.

Book Your Hotel or Special Accommodation
We are big fans of Booking.com. We like their review system and photos. If we want to see more reviews and additional booking options, we go to TripAdvisor.

You Need Travel Insurance!
Good travel insurance means having total peace of mind. Travel insurance protects you when your medical insurance often will not and better than what you get from your credit card. It will provide comprehensive coverage should you need medical treatment or return to the United States, compensation for trip interruption, baggage loss, and other situations.
