Free Time On Vacation? Maybe These Things Are Worth It

By Betsy Wuebker Leave a Comment

(Last Updated On: February 2, 2020)

Sometimes traveling means that you can have a bit of time to fill. It’s may be while you are waiting to get on the next plane. It could be during a flight which is long haul. Sitting on a sun lounger with the sea as company, sat by a blue pool with the sun and shade looking inviting. We can’t always fill the time with adventure and sightseeing, and so, what do you do with the free time you have? There are many ways you could put this time to good use. I thought I would share with you some of the things you could do.

Start a travel blog

If you travel a lot then why not put your knowledge to good use and consider startling a travel blog. You could not only share your experiences and log your memories in an online diary, but you could find that your experiences may help others in the future who are planning to travel to that destination. Furthermore, people have gone on to make careers out of this, so this could be a viable way that you could also fund your travel lifestyle. There are plenty of articles online that could help you start a blog.

Learn something new

Sometimes it is good to use the spare time you may have in the sun with nothing to do, and learn something new. Maybe it is a foreign language you have wanted to master, or you like the idea of learning and studying towards a degree that you can do online. Things like an online IMC in marketing or something that’d overs business management could be worthwhile in your current career and allow you to move up the corporate ladder.

Read a book

One of the most popular ways to enjoy the time you have on vacation is to read a book, and this could be the ideal time to go back to something that is a little old school instead of having your nose in your phone. Maybe it is a book you have wanted to read for sometime, or perhaps something you picked up at the airport.

Listen to podcasts or audio books

If physical books are no longer your thing, you can still use the time wisely and allow your phone to be the entertainment. Maybe plugging in to the latest podcast that can help you feel motivated or inspired. Or listening to an audio book instead of reading it. They both can be great ways to pass the time.

Plan

Finally, maybe now is the time to start planning. It could be the things that you want to do while you are away, or simply planning your next adventure. Many people also use it as a time to plan for the things they need to do when they get back home. It could be steps you want to take to improve an aspect of your life, or maybe the things that you want to do to better improve a situation.

I hope that this has given you some inspiration on how you can spend your free time when on vacation.

Tips for Trip Success

Book Your Flight
Find an inexpensive flight by using CheapOAir, a favorite of ours because it regularly returns less expensive flight options from a variety of airlines.

Book Your Hotel or Special Accommodation
We are big fans of Booking.com. We like their review system and photos. If we want to see more reviews and additional booking options, we go to TripAdvisor.

You Need Travel Insurance!
Good travel insurance means having total peace of mind. Travel insurance protects you when your medical insurance often will not and better than what you get from your credit card. It will provide comprehensive coverage should you need medical treatment or return to the United States, compensation for trip interruption, baggage loss, and other situations.
