Painless Ways to Save Money on Hotel Room Bookings

By Betsy Wuebker Leave a Comment

(Last Updated On: January 28, 2020)

Usually the hotel is one of the most expensive parts of any vacation. If you want to help yourself here, then it behooves you to be savvy with the money you have.

Book Early or Late

If you are staying in a popular hotel then it is always a good idea for you to book early. Sought-after hotels tend to fill up months in advance, and this is especially the case if you are going during the school holidays. If you want to save money here then it helps to go during the off-season or to try and choose a large resort. The bonus of choosing a resort is that they tend to have hundreds of rooms available, so you can book at the last minute and take advantage of even bigger cost savings. Look up holiday specials to find the best deals if you don’t have a destination in mind.

Budget

You may be able to afford a nice, luxurious hotel, but can you afford the expenses while you are there as well? If not, then it helps to book a hotel that’s under your budget. Cheaper hotels tend to have cheaper restaurants and beverages too, so overall, they can really help you to save.

Choosing a Room

When choosing a hotel room, it’s important that you think about what is really important to you. After all, some hotel rooms come with huge TVs, but if you don’t plan on spending too much time in your room, then this won’t benefit you very much. You may also end up paying extra for an amenity that you just aren’t going to use, so make sure that you keep that in mind.

Travelling with Kids

If you know that you are going to be travelling with kids then you need to focus on making your stay as flexible as possible. The bigger family you have, the more likely there is for something to go wrong. In this case, you’re better off booking a more expensive package if it gives you a flexible rate. This will make the trip less stressful and it will give you more chance to relax. Travelling during the school holidays may seem like a good idea but this is not the case at all and you should avoid it at all costs. If you have no choice but to travel during this time, then make sure that you book your package as soon as you can because if you don’t then the price will go up and you may be stuck with a huge bill.

Research

There is nothing worse than booking a cheap hotel, only to arrive and find that the restaurant is closed and that there is nothing in walking distance. One way for you to avoid this would be for you to read as many reviews as you can beforehand., When you do, you’ll easily be able to make the most out of your stay and you will also be able to take advantage of having inside knowledge too. You never know, you may find better options that you were never aware of to begin with.

5 Painless Ways to Save on Hotels

Tips for Trip Success

Book Your Flight
Find an inexpensive flight by using CheapOAir, a favorite of ours because it regularly returns less expensive flight options from a variety of airlines.

Book Your Hotel or Special Accommodation
We are big fans of Booking.com. We like their review system and photos. If we want to see more reviews and additional booking options, we go to TripAdvisor.

You Need Travel Insurance!
Good travel insurance means having total peace of mind. Travel insurance protects you when your medical insurance often will not and better than what you get from your credit card. It will provide comprehensive coverage should you need medical treatment or return to the United States, compensation for trip interruption, baggage loss, and other situations.
